IEEE802.3u 100Mbps fast Ethernet optical fiber transceiver supports two mediums, 100Base-TX and 100Base-FX which are used for network connections. The fiber transceiver, which is also called medium converter or Ethernet optical converter, is used for the equivalent transformation between two medium signals so that they can be connected conveniently and economically.
The transceiver can be used either as an independent unit or a package board in the 19-inch fiber transceiver subframe (it contains 10 unit at most) placed in the central distribution rack.
